The Opportunity:
Washington State University Athletics is hiring for an Assistant Athletic Director (AD) for Sports Medicine with Football. You will play a vital role in supporting the health, performance, and overall well-being of Cougar Football student-athletes. In this position, you will work closely with the Medical Director, team physicians, and the Associate Director of Athletics for Sports Performance, Health & Well-Being, to coordinate and oversee all aspects of Sports Medicine services for the football program. You will also collaborate with the Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine to help ensure consistent, high-quality care and operations across the entire unit.
In your day-to-day work, you will lead efforts in injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and case management, while supervising Sports Medicine staff assigned to the football program. You will also manage the Cougar Football Complex Sports Medicine Facility, ensuring it operates efficiently and meets the highest standards. Your role will require you to adhere to all applicable State, University, Department, Conference, NCAA, and NATA guidelines, best practices, and regulations.
Beyond clinical care, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of future professionals by mentoring and supervising Athletic Training students within an accredited program.

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime-exempt.
Monthly Salary: $8,333.34 - $9,400 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in sports administration, administrative, business, liberal arts, social sciences, or related discipline plus four (4) years of demonstrated experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified for the particular unit, including one (1) year of supervisory responsibility. Any combination of relevant experience and education may be substituted for the required education. Extensive knowledge of rules and regulations established by governing associations.
Board of Certification (BOC) required by time of hire.
Must be able to obtain a Washington State Athletic Trainer License within two months from time of hire.
Must be able and willing to work nights and weekends.
Must be able and willing to travel frequently with assigned team.
Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in related field.
Seven (7) years of work experience within intercollegiate athletic training services.
Five (5) years of work experience within Division I level of athletic training services.
Work experience that demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and successfully with head and assistant football coaches, strength coaches, team physicians and administrators.
Work experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully supervise assistant athletics trainers within the intercollegiate football setting.
Work experience that demonstrates the necessary skills to successfully supervise Athletic Training Students (ATS).
Work experience that demonstrates ability to provide clinical ATS instruction.
Work experience that demonstrates ability to work successfully with a variety of students.
