The Compliance Director/ Assistant AD for Compliance is responsible for the overall development, implementation, and review of the EWU Compliance Program. The Compliance Director/Assistant AD for Compliance is responsible for the daily operation of the compliance program including rules education, interpretation, and monitoring of compliance areas. However, each individual associated with EWU is responsible for being aware of University and NCAA legislation as it applies to her/his responsibilities. Maintain knowledge and compliance with NCAA, SIAC, and University rules, regulations, and policies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Reviewing declaration of playing and practice season and schedule of contests submitted by coaches
Conducting team orientation before each sport's playing season
Reviewing all student-athlete NCAA compliance forms (Drug Testing Consent Form and Student-Athlete Statement)
Assisting with the compilation and publication of the NCAA Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act each year
Coordinating the education of student-athletes, coaches, and university personnel with regard to NCAA, conference, and institutional rules
Coordinate, prepare, and maintain NCAA squad lists in conjunction with the financial aid office

Acting as department liaison with the NCAA Eligibility Center.
Receiving final Eligibility Center decisions, placing the decisions in students’ admissions files, and notifying the athletics department when a final decision is rendered
Overseeing student-athlete initial and continuing eligibility and communicating status to coaches
Coordinating institutional efforts to determine student-athletes continuing eligibility.
Reviewing and auditing off-campus contact and evaluation requests
Reviewing academic transcripts and test scores to approve official visit requests
Monitoring the number of official visits provided in all sports
Interpreting NCAA rules for coaches and staff
Monitoring permissible recruiting material with Bylaw 13.4.1
Securing release for potential transfer students and facilitating the release of student-athletes seeking a transfer (in consultation with head coach and director of intercollegiate athletics)
Reviewing and filing monthly practice/competition logs and recruiting phone logs
Maintaining participation records and determining seasons of competition utilized by student-athletes
Identifying potential NCAA rules violations and reporting them to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and FAR
Assisting in investigations of reported secondary NCAA rule violations
Participating in student-athlete exit interviews with the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and FAR
Providing a review of appropriate summer regulations for coaches and student-athletes
Coordinating the National Letter of Intent program for athletes
Coordinating the release of National Letter of Intent signees (with athletic communications, financial aid, admissions, and the conference)
Monitoring outside scholarships with Financial Aid
Coordinating process of initial and annual renewal / non-renewal of athletic grants-in-aid with Financial Aid
Acting as Department liaison with Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, and FAR
Coordinating all conference and NCAA appeals
Monitoring employment of student-athletes according to Bylaw 15.2.6
Assisting in conjunction with financial aid, the eligibility status of student-athletes for the NCAA Special Assistance Fund
Serving as advisor to the student-athlete advisory committee
Monitoring compliance with Bylaws 13.7.5.2 and 16.2 regarding complimentary admissions
Overseeing compliance with Bylaw 13.12 regarding summer camps
3 to 5 years of experience in Division I or II compliance. Strong working knowledge of NCAA rules, regulations, and guidelines with the ability to apply and enforce excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated interpersonal skills, and be an organized individual. Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and an ability to establish a good rapport and effective working relationships with student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and staff. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to build relationships with students and colleagues across the campus.
