Position Summary
The Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance & Student-Athlete Success provides leadership for the day-to-day administration of a comprehensive NCAA Division II, MIAA, and institutional athletics compliance program. This position supports institutional control through proactive education, monitoring, documentation, reporting, rules interpretation, and collaboration with coaches, staff, student-athletes, campus partners, and conference/NCAA representatives.
The role also supports student-athlete academic success by coordinating eligibility processes, monitoring academic progress, strengthening communication between Athletics and campus academic offices, and helping student-athletes navigate the expectations connected to their academic, athletic, and personal development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Compliance Administration
Administer and continuously improve athletics compliance systems, policies, procedures, education, monitoring, documentation, and reporting processes.
Serve as a primary resource for NCAA Division II, MIAA, and institutional rules interpretation for coaches, staff, student-athletes, prospective student-athletes, families, boosters, and campus partners.
Monitor recruiting activities, official and unofficial visits, tryouts, camps and clinics, complimentary admissions, awards and benefits, playing and practice seasons, roster management, and other areas requiring compliance oversight.
Coordinate initial, transfer, and continuing eligibility processes in partnership with the Registrar, Admissions, Financial Aid, academic departments, and the NCAA Eligibility Center.
Maintain required NCAA, conference, and institutional compliance forms, records, databases, reports, and annual certifications.
Assist with investigation, documentation, self-reporting, corrective action, and education related to potential NCAA, MIAA, or institutional rules violations.
Support monitoring and education related to name, image, and likeness activity, student-athlete employment, amateurism, outside competition, and other evolving compliance areas.
Prepare compliance updates, risk assessments, training materials, and reports for athletics leadership and appropriate campus partners.
Student-Athlete Academic Success
Support student-athletes in understanding academic expectations, eligibility requirements, progress toward degree, enrollment requirements, and institutional support resources.
Collaborate with academic advisors, faculty, Student Affairs, the Registrar, and other campus offices to promote timely communication and coordinated student-athlete support.
Help identify at-risk student-athletes and coordinate appropriate referrals, follow-up, and support plans.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience working in collegiate athletics compliance, academic support, student-athlete services, athletics administration, or a closely related area.
Working knowledge of NCAA rules, conference regulations, institutional policies, eligibility processes, and student-athlete academic support practices.
Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, documentation, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to manage confidential information, meet deadlines, interpret rules, communicate expectations clearly, and exercise sound professional judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or other advanced degree in sport administration, higher education, student affairs, education, business, law, or a related field.
Direct NCAA Division II compliance experience.
Experience with compliance and student-athlete management systems such as Teamworks, NCAA Compliance Assistant, LSDBi, Eligibility Center systems, or similar platforms.
Experience with NIL education or monitoring, transfer eligibility processes, financial aid equivalency tracking, or campus-wide compliance collaboration.

Reporting and Position Details
Reports to: Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics
Supervision Given to: Student workers, tutors, graduate assistants, interns, or other assigned student support personnel.
Licenses: None required. Valid driver’s license may be required based on institutional travel expectations.
Position: Full-time, exempt staff position.
