Reporting to the Director for Intercollegiate Athletics, the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance manages the daily functions and operations of all
NCAA
compliance matters for the university’s Division I programs.
Monitors and enforces
NCAA
and Big South rules and regulations.
Maintains current knowledge of new and pending legislation and rules/regulations related to student-athletes, coaches, boosters and university personnel and disseminates information as appropriate.
Investigates and reports
NCAA
and Big South Conference violations to those entities, the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Faculty Athletics Representative.
Maintains proficiency with
ARMS
,
CAI
,
LSDBI
, the
NCAA
Eligibility Center and other compliance software programs.
Ensures compliance with the National Letter of Intent Program and all aspects of
NCAA
Bylaw 15 financial aid requirements.
Initiates
NCAA
certification process and reviews institutional paperwork in regards to student-athlete eligibility and certification; monitors squad lists and other compliance paperwork, especially that related to recruiting, camps/clinics,
CARA
logs, declaration of playing seasons, declaration of coaching staff and participation reports.
Creates, maintains and implements division policy and procedures related to
NCAA
and Big South rules and regulations.
Creates and implements educational programming for student-athletes, Winthrop staff and other stakeholders.
Assists with oversight, management and support of student-athletes in their pursuit of Name, Image and Likeness (
NIL
) opportunities and provides education, resources and monitoring for
NIL
activity reporting and data management.
Assists in preparing and submitting annual reports, including Agreed Upon Procedures,
APR
Report,
EADA
Report,
NCAA
Financial Report and various institutional effectiveness reports.
Serves as the division’s liaison with the offices of Financial Aid, Residence Life, and Records and Registration.
Serves as administrator for assigned sports and assists in the overall management of the programs.
Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant work experience.
Master’s degree; proficiency with
ARMS
, MS Office and
NCAA
software and systems; and experience with
NCAA
compliance, athletic eligibility and certification, and
NCAA
reporting.
Knowledge of
NCAA
rules and regulations and the ability to interpret and apply the bylaws. Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate student athletes and work effectively with various constituencies, including coaches, faculty and administrators, in an environment characterized by academic integrity. Demonstrated commitment to excellence and sensitivity to cultural differences. Must be available and willing to work evenings and weekends.
