Are you a driven and innovative leader passionate about supporting student-athletes in their personal and professional development? The Department of Athletics at San Diego State University is seeking an Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development and NIL to oversee our Aztecs Going Pro program.
Lead the instruction of four 1-unit courses integral to the Aztecs Going Pro program, implementing innovative classroom and experiential learning activities that support student-athletes' transitions from matriculation to post-graduation.
Collaborate with the Student-Athlete Development staff to create and deliver programming that emphasizes personal growth, career development, civic engagement, and NIL education, aligned with the program's three pillars.
Leverage campus and community resources, including the SDSU Career Services Center, to facilitate career path inventories, resource libraries, workshops, and career fairs that enhance student-athlete development.
Ensure student-athletes participate in leadership development, community service, mock interviews, mentorship, and networking events to equip them with essential career skills, including resume and cover letter writing and interview preparation.
Cultivate relationships with prospective donors to secure funding and resources that enhance student-athlete development and support the vision of the Aztecs Going Pro program.
: Collaborate with executive leadership to establish and implement a comprehensive NIL strategic vision for SDSU student-athletes, coaches, and key stakeholders.

This is a full-time, at-will, position offering comprehensive benefits.
This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
The Department of Athletics, utilizing the services of over 150 employees, is responsible for the intercollegiate athletics program at San Diego State University. Currently, there are 18 sport programs, approximately 450 student-athletes, and 17 offices in the department. The offices include the following: The Aztec Club, Administration, Athletic Medicine, Business Office, Compliance, Corporate Sales, Development, Equipment, Event Management/Facilities and Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Media Relations, Strength and Conditioning, Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, Ticket Office, and Video.

The Student-Athlete Academic Support Services unit is dedicated to fostering the academic, personal, and professional growth of SDSU student-athletes through a comprehensive, integrated support system. This unit comprises two primary components: Student-Athlete Development and Academic Support Services.
Academic Support Services provides tailored academic advising, tutoring, and eligibility monitoring, ensuring student-athletes meet their academic goals while maintaining integrity and progress toward graduation. Through collaboration with campus resources and community partners, this unit delivers innovative, data-driven support to help student-athletes thrive in all aspects of their college experience and post-graduate endeavors.
Through the Aztecs Going Pro program, Student-Athlete Development offers personalized opportunities that prepare student-athletes for life after sports, focusing on career development, leadership, civic engagement, and personal growth. Students engage in experiential learning activities, career coaching, and workshops that build critical life skills, such as resume writing, interviewing, and professional networking.

Five years of experience supporting, managing, or enhancing intercollegiate athletic programs, including involvement in program development, student-athlete support, or operational functions. Experience can include direct work with athletic teams, coordination of athletic events, program administration, or other roles contributing to the growth and success of collegiate athletic initiatives.
Three or more years’ experience working in a Division I athletic department engaging student-athletes in academic, personal, and/or career development.
Proven skills and success in collecting and analyzing data, curriculum advising, and program development.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective relationships with administration, faculty, coaches, parents, student-athletes, constituents within the university, and the university community.
Proven experience cultivating donor support to enhance programming needs.
Previous experience teaching in a formal setting is preferred. This includes any of the following: classroom instruction, classroom management, curriculum development, and/or establishing learning objectives and goals.
University employees that have direct job responsibilities involving intercollegiate athletics are expected to have knowledge and understanding of NCAA, conference and University rules, policies and procedures governing intercollegiate athletics. Additionally, he or she is required to notify the appropriate personnel of any knowledge of, or should have known of, any violation or suspected violation of NCAA, conference, or University regulations.
