The Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing & Fan Experience (Assistant AD) is responsible for the oversight of fan experience, game presentation, and revenue generation for the 20 intercollegiate sports within the Oregon Department of Athletics. The person in this role will develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and branding strategy for Oregon Athletics that will have a major emphasis on revenue generation through enhancing fan engagement and the in-venue fan experience, and increasing ticket sales.
This role is also responsible for vigilant monitoring and increasing recognition of the University of Oregon athletic brand, and working closely with the Assistant AD, Creative Services on branding and creative strategy. Additionally, this person will develop programming to include video board content, special effects, on-field/court recognitions, halftime shows, sponsor activations, in-game promotions, fan contests, and other entertainment elements.
This person will coordinate and execute a comprehensive plan that includes ticketing, marketing, video production, and digital engagement while working closely with creative services to oversee the development of creative elements to support plans. This role also ensures the alignment of units to support all external activities.
The Assistant AD will supervise two (2) positions in the areas of marketing and spirit groups, as well as all part-time employees and student workers to develop and implement entertainment elements for Oregon home games and select events. This position reports to the Senior Associate Athletic Director, Communications. The incumbent will be responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics programs, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the university and the NCAA.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Five years of experience working for an intercollegiate athletic department or professional sports team in the areas of fan experience, marketing, promotions, or revenue generation.
• Ability to collaborate successfully across multiple departments and stakeholders within an organization.
• Ability to work within a team culture, lead a marketing department, and develop, direct, and implement marketing efforts for nationally recognized athletic teams.
• Creative and detail-oriented with great interpersonal skills and communication skills.
• Clear understanding of NCAA rules and compliance.
• Thorough knowledge of all sports sponsored by Oregon Athletics.
• Experience leading and executing in-venue game presentations to enhance the fan experience for a professional sports team or FBS Division I athletic program at the Power 5 level.
• Experience creating comprehensive marketing plans for individual sports programs within an FBS Division I athletic program.
• Experience leading full-time staff members.
• Experience and understanding of best practices regarding brand elevation and management.
• Experience creating and implementing digital advertising strategies for a professional sports team or FBS Division I athletic program at the Power 5 level.
