The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries within the College's comprehensive sports medicine program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prevention of athletic injuries and illnesses
Evaluation of athletic injuries
Treatment of athletic injuries
Providing counseling and education to student athletes
Assist with coordination and scheduling of medical coverage for home and away competitions
Supervision, education, and recruitment of students
Recordkeeping and documentation
Work with doctors and other allied health professionals to deliver care to student athletes
Qualifications
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education : Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree from a CAATE accredited athletic training program
Experience : Some medical experience preferred but not required
Certificate/License : Must be NATA BOC certified and possess or be eligible for licensure in North Carolina
Skills:
Applied Knowledge: Athletic trainers must be able to identify and understand a wide range of medical problems. Diagnosing, evaluating symptoms, and working with other healthcare professionals will be needed.
Decision-Making Skills: Quick thinking by athletic trainers can greatly impact a person’s immediate care and recovery
Attention to Detail: Athletic trainers should take notes on most effective practices for each individual and be able to apply the best therapeutic interventions
Interpersonal Skills: Athletic trainers work with people in stressful situations. Keeping a clear head and a calm demeanor when talking to people in pain, other medical professionals, coaches, and families will be an asset.
