Job Summary:

The Assistant Athletic Trainer, under the direction of the Director of Athletic Training, isresponsible for the daily athletic training needs of assigned intercollegiate athletic teams as wellas overall care and maintenance of the athletic training facilities. This person must provide exceptional personal care for the student-athletes and sport programs, as assigned to them,with regards to safety, injury prevention, rehabilitation, healthy eating and living and healthinsurance matters. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions of Position:

• Manages the athletic training needs of the intercollegiate athletic teams, as assigned,and other student-athletes when necessary.
  
• Assists in organization and execution of pre-participation examinations.
  
• Assists in providing preventative care and rehabilitation for all athletic and medicalproblems that the student-athletes may experience.
  
• Apply protective or injury preventative devises such as tape, bandages, or braces tobody parts such as ankles, fingers, wrists and knees.
  
• Serves as constructive liaison between the student-athlete and their coach, parent(s),and team physician(s).
• Serves as clinical preceptor to athletic training students, providing instruction in theproper skills related to sports medicine, including providing updates on the progress ofrecovering athletes.
  
• Collaborates with team physicians to evaluate athletes’ readiness to play and provideparticipation clearances when warranted.
  
• Responsible for ensuring that all university, NCAA and conference rules are followed.
  
• Travels with athletic teams to away competitions, as assigned.
  
• Transports student-athletes to other healthcare facilities for evaluation, diagnostictesting, and treatment.
• Assists with the fitting of athletic equipment and special protective devices whennecessary.
• Properly manages all aspects of student-athlete medical records, including theoccurrence and nature of injury, physical examination, treatment plans, and
  communications.
• Responsible for daily operations and maintenance of satellite facility during the activemonths of use.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic Training.

Required Education & Experience:

Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field/concentration. Aminimum of one (1) year of directly related experience as a certified
athletic trainer. Possess state athletic training licensure, in goodstanding, in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, or eligible topursue upon being hired; Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). Demonstratedexperience working with spreadsheets and relevant databases. Anequivalent combination of education and experience may beconsidered.

Preferred:

• Three (3) or more years of experience at the Division Icollegiate level.
• Experience managing multiple sports as an athletic trainer

• Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Experience working with healthcare professionals from variety of disciplines.
• Work experience that demonstrates ability to work successfully with a diverse student population.
• The ability to manage several tasks and/or projects simultaneously.
• Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and a commitment to customer service.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong integrity and character who shares a commitment for knowing and complying with NCAA, Conference and University rules.
  Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
