Academy of Art University Athletics serves as the lone Art Institution in all of NCAA Division II. The Urban Knights teams have made over 45 postseason appearances, including men’s and women’s Cross Country & Track and Field.

We are currently seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer to join our amazing Athletics Team. This is a wonderful full-time opportunity that will enable you to combine your passion for sports and education to support our aspiring artists and student-athletes.

The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for supporting management in the related responsibilities for a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II athletic program. Specific duties include administering and advising athletes on treatment, therapy and medical concerns within the athletic department.

The Assistant Athletic Trainer also supports the teams with the following responsibilities:

  • Primarily responsible for the prevention, assessment, management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

  • Assist with coordinating medical referrals and communication between the injured athlete, physician, coach and family on when and how the athlete can return to practice and competition.

  • Assist with coverage and management of all intercollegiate sports teams and provide care to athletes.

  • Clinical instruction, supervision and management of Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer, Athletic Training Interns, and Student Athletic Trainers/Workers.

  • Act as a consultant for the Strength and Conditioning Department and make recommendations to ensure proper lifting techniques and performance of student-athletes.

  • Assist in daily operation of the athletic training room and assume the responsibilities of the Head Athletic Trainer during his absence.

  • Assist with administering drug testing policy and procedures, to include scheduling, collecting, observing, validating, and communicating results.
