Assistant Athletic Trainer works under the guidance and supervision of the Associate Athletic Director for Health and Wellness, Team Physicians and Director of Athletics. The incumbent assists in the operation of the Sports Medicine Department within the Intercollegiate Athletics.
Responsible for including all aspects of screening, prevention and care of sports related injuries and conditions.
Assists in coverage of athletic practices and contests, including evening, weekend assignments and travel and clinical instruction within the Athletic Training Education Program.
Maintains updated files and accurate medical records of the following: athletic injuries, medical insurance, medical history, injury referrals, conditioning programs, schedules, and other necessary data.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Equivalent to bachelor’s degree in athletic training, physical education, kinesiology or related field of study or combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities. Course work must include completion of the Board of Certification (BOC) curriculum requirements. Master's degree in athletic training, physical education, kinesiology or related field of study, preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience as certified athletic trainer, preferred.
Athletic training experience with both women’s and men’s team and classroom or clinical teaching experience in accredited undergraduate curriculum, desired.
CERTIFICATIONS: Current NATABOC Certification; current CPR with AED Certifications.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
General knowledge of the principles and practices of athletic training including conditioning, injury prevention, injury assessment and rehabilitation.
Effective use of rehabilitation and exercise equipment; rules, regulations, and guidelines established by the campuses' governing national collegiate athletic associations (e.g., National Collegiate Athletics Association or National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics)
Demonstrate the commitment and ability to work with a diverse student population.

Classification / grade: 8180 / Athletic Trainer I 12 Mo / 1
The anticipated HIRING RANGE is $4706 - $4888, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $4213 - $8130 per month.
HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; may include evenings and weekends.
REG: This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
