The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for coordinating and assisting with the Augusta University Sports Medicine program.
Duties include but are not limited to:
ASSIST WITH RECOGNIZING, TREATING, REHABILITATING AND PROVIDING EMERGENCY CARE AND FIRST AID FOR INJURIES AND ILLNESSES TO INTERCOLLEGIATE STUDENT-ATHLETES OF ASSIGNED SPORT(S): Assist with providing athletic training coverage at practices and games (including travel) of assigned sport(s). Assist with evaluating acute and chronic injuries, fabricating protective equipment, and providing daily treatment. Refer and/or transport student-athletes to the emergency room if the team physician or Assistant AD for Sports Medicine cannot be contacted in emergency situations. Assist with scheduling medical appointments and transportation for student-athletes. Assist with implementing prevention and rehabilitation programs for athletes. Assist with maintaining detailed and current medical records. Assist with educating athletes on injury prevention, management, and return to play
SPORTS MEDICINE ADMINISTRATION: Assist with Processing Medical Insurance Claims and Related Information. Assist with coordinating student-athlete health insurance.
INTERPERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT: Maintain Collaborative Professional Working Relationships with Administrators and Coaches in the Department, Other College Offices, and Appropriate Relationships with Members of the AU Sports Medicine Staff and Other Individuals Involved with NCAA Athletics Programs.
COMPLIANCE AND REGULATORY AFFAIRS: Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing AU, its employees, and the rules of the NCAA and Affiliated Conferences. Maintains confidentiality to include, but not limited to, information, files, and records that the incumbent may obtain or possess in accordance with federal and state laws and AU policies
HEALTHCARE ADMINISTRATION:Assist with Inventory, Purchasing, Budgeting, Restocking Medical Supplies, and Equipment
OTHER DUTIES: Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 1-3 years experience.
Certified Athletic Trainer (NATA) required.
Master's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred
KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/ databases
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational, prioritization, and customer service skills
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)
Pay Grade: 17
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
