UCF Athletics - Sports Medicine

 

Under the direction of the Associate A.D. / Director of Sports Medicine, the Athletic Trainer assists in the management of the overall Athletics Sports Medicine program within athletics, university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations, and, under the direction of team physicians, is responsible for the care and prevention of injuries for women’s volleyball and other possible assigned sports and student-athletes.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Research best practices / establish proficiency in the execution of emergency care, injury prevention / reduction, student-athlete recovery, and monitoring during return to play progressions within evidence-based practice and guidelines / standards / protocols set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the State of Florida Department of Health

  • Actively communicate / collaborate with team physicians, supervisor, athletic training staff, sports psychologists, performance nutrition, sports performance and coaching staff regarding student-athlete injury, health, wellness and athletic participation

  • Organize and execute pre-participation physical screenings of student-athletes for assigned sports

  • Educate student-athletes regarding best practices towards injury prevention, self-care, and health / wellness promotion

  • Provide medical coverage for all countable athletic related activities, including, but not limited to games, practices, sports performance sessions, etc.
