Position Focus:

Under direction of a Head Athletic Trainer, oversees the physical evaluation and treatment of student athletes to maintain maximum physical fitness and participation in athletic competition.

Essential Duties

1. Under the supervision of the Head Trainer, treats and rehabilitates athletes to return to full activity levels. 2. Conducts pre-season screening and conditioning to prevent injuries during competitions. 3. Administers first aid and emergency techniques. 4. Recommends new or modified care treatment; documents treatments, referrals, and injury reports. 5. Determines methods for educating both athletes and coaching staff on proper training techniques and modalities. 6. In conjunction with team physician, determines when an athlete has completed a rehabilitation program and can resume an appropriate level of activity. 7. Travels with and/or oversees assigned varsity sport team.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Physical Therapy or Allied Health Sciences required and two years of experience as an Athletic Trainer at the collegiate level or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of NCAA and Ivy League regulations.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Ability to work with diverse population and meet multiple demands, communicate effectively, and strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Required Licenses or Certifications

Certified Athletic Trainer.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work evenings and weekends and in inclement working conditions. Standing and walking for long periods of time.
