About the Position
Working independently and with support of the Head Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic Trainer develops, administers, and coordinates the medical care of intercollegiate athletes. This position assists with the daily operation of the athletic training facility and equipment, including providing medical coverage for intercollegiate sports' practices and contests. The incumbent will perform injury evaluations, provide treatments for injuries, proactive injury prevention, and oversee rehabilitation and conditioning programs. This position works closely with the Head Athletic Trainer in creating and managing schedules and assignments. Additionally, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will share oversight of programming and contribute to the creation and oversight of policies and procedures for Sports Medicine. In the absence of the Head Athletic Trainer, the incumbent will oversee the organization and operation of the sports medicine program. This position is expected to maintain a professional work environment with student-athletes, staff, and the campus community. The ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays and be available to travel with teams is required for this position as is, maintaining all necessary athletic training certifications.

Special Conditions
This position has been identified to have significant responsibility for student and campus activities and will be required to function as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act. In accordance with CSU Executive Order 1107, Implementation of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the incumbent will be responsible for reporting allegations of Clery Act crimes to the University Police Department and/or the University Clery Director.

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.
