Head Athletic Trainer
The Athletics Department at Bryant University invites applications for an Assistant Athletic Trainer. Bryant University is an NCAA Division I program, sponsoring 25 varsity sports, and is a member of the America East Athletic Conference. This position reports to the Head Athletic Trainer and is accountable to assist in the athletic training program for the University’s 25 Division 1 sports programs, through ensuring student-athletes receive timely and effective treatment for injuries. The Assistant/Associate Athletic Trainer also monitors and follows up on physicals, health records, conditioning and rehabilitation records, and helps train student assistants in service delivery.This is full-time position, with excellent benefits. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assisting in providing proper and timely treatment of injuries to athletes participating in varsity intercollegiate programs by administering first aid and helping to evaluate the need for further medical treatment Administering identified therapies to rehabilitate injuries, including pre- and post-operative therapiesProperly training students in athletic training processes and counseling students on appropriate conditioning Helping in establishing and monitoring schedules to ensure appropriate athletic training coverage at all home and away events, including practices as appropriate Working with the team physician and other medical personnel where appropriate, to set up and administer physicals Inputting and monitoring an electronic records system, which tracks physicals, injuries, treatments and insurance claims Monitoring and remaining within budgets, which reflect athletic priorities Ensuring athletic training room programs and facilities, supplies and equipment expenditures remain within established budgets Maintaining good relationships with coaching staff, athletes and parents, especially to discuss student injuries, student eligibility, conditioning Effectively recruiting, hiring, evaluating and motivating student assistants as per University guidelines Performing other related responsibilities as assigned.
This position is filled best filled by an individual with an undergraduate degree (Master’s preferred) in a related field, National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA) certification, and two years of collegiate or professional athletic training experience.Excellent interpersonal skills are required to interact effectively with student athletes, athletics staff, members of the medical community and others. Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to direct and supervise others are important to help oversee athletic training room operations and supervise student assistants.Requires the ability to lift 70 lbs. Rhode Island State Licensure is also required. Travel is required, as are evening and weekend hours.
