The Assistant Athletic Trainer will work under the medical supervision of the head team physician and is responsible for the day-to-day sports medicine/athletic training operations for the Cheer and Men’s and Women’s Golf. Duties include prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athletes; pre-participation physicals; maintaining medical records; completing required insurance claims; daily interaction and communication with coaching staff, team physicians, resident athletic trainers, and administration; attending team practices and home and away events; and manages injury prevention programming. This position work setting will vary between Intercollegiate Athletics (
ICA
) facilities and the University Health Center. Assist the Coordinator for
UHC
Physical Therapy and the Director of Athletic Training with other duties as assigned.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited athletic training educational program degree or related field.
Current National Board of Certification (
BOC
) for Athletic Trainers,
CPR
and
AED
Certification for healthcare workers by an accredited organization, Current or eligible State of Maryland Athletic Trainer Licensure.
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience as a certified athletic trainer in collegiate or professional sport organization.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong communication, organizational, administrative, and teamwork skills.
Experience providing health care services for college athletes.
Ability to work a flexible work schedule to include some evenings, weekends and holidays.
Preferences:
Master’s degree from an accredited athletic training educational program degree or related field.
Division I work experience.
Manual therapy techniques and advanced clinical skills (e.g.
TPI
Level 1 Certification,
BFR
, Vestibular rehabilitation therapy, Graston, Needling,
SFMA
, Kinesiotaping, casting, etc.).
Current National Board of Certification (
BOC
) for Athletic Trainers,
CPR
and
AED
Certification for healthcare workers by an accredited organization, Current or eligible State of Maryland Athletic Trainer Licensure.
Possess a valid driver’s license.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duty/Responsibility (1):
| Provide comprehensive athletic training services for students including evaluation, treatment
and rehabilitation of athletic injury /illness. Attend practices, events and competitions as
assigned.

Essential Duty/Responsibility (2):
| Provide timely communication to the Director of Athletic Training and Head Team Physician of
developments as situation warrant; participate in regular Sports Medicine Team,
ICA
, and
UHC
staff meetings. Positively interact and communicate on a daily basis with students, faculty,
coaches, physicians, administrators and members of the sports medicine staff.

A moderate physical effort and levels of dexterity, including but not limited to:
The ability to stand for long periods of time in all weather conditions;
The ability to move items weighing up to 50 pounds;
The ability to assist injured individuals on/off the playing field/court/surfaces;
The ability to climb, stand, stoop, run, and type.
The ability to work with individuals on various pieces of medical, physical therapy, and/or strength and conditioning equipment; and
The ability to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, extended periods of time without days off, travel, and be on-call as a regular part of the daily job.
