Iona University seeks to hire a certified athletic trainer for the Iona University Acrobatics and Tumbling program.
Iona University (www.iona.edu) is a private Catholic university in New Rochelle, New York. It was founded in 1940 by the Congregation of Christian Brothers and occupies a campus of 45 acres. Iona’s NCAA Division I program with 23 varsity teams competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
This Position reports to the Head Athletic Trainer.
Duties will include but not limited to:
Coverage of individual and team practices.
Covering home and away contests.
Providing preventative and rehabilitative health care, including determining course of care. Provide immediate treatment or first aid for injured student-athletes during the course of athletic events or practices.
Overseeing and managing pre-participation physical examinations, conducting annual concussion testing, NCAA and In-house drug testing.
Working closely with team physicians.
Coordination with the management of injury care.
Assists in the coordination of medical appointments for injured student-student-athletes.
Working closely with head coach and Acrobatics and Tumbling staff.
Responsible for the setup/take down of athletic training equipment including water for practice and games, and pregame taping.
Maintaining medical records on a daily basis. Assists in the protection of student data and compliance with FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
Maintaining Athletic Training room, athletic training equipment and supplies.

Secondary sport coverage and other responsibilities as delegated by the Head Athletic Trainer. Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Ability to pass background check upon employment.
Work hours vary with practice and contest schedules of athletic teams including evening, weekends and holidays.
Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training with Master’s in related field preferred.
Licensed in the state of NY or eligible for license.
Certified by the NATA.
> 2 years’ experience in higher education environment.
Familiar with NCAA rules.
Adaptability/flexibility with practice and contest schedules.
Strong rehabilitation skill set.
Strong communication skills.
Must have valid driver’s license.
CPR with AED / First-Aid Certified.
