Job Summary:
Under supervision of the Executive Director of Athletics, the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance & Deputy Title IX Coordinator (AADC) is responsible for the overall development, implementation, and review of the institution's NCAA compliance program. Specifically, the AADC is responsible for the daily operation of the compliance program including student-athlete eligibility certification, development of policies and procedures pertaining to enforcement of NCAA rules, delivery of rules education to coaches and staff, as well as submission of required reports to the NCAA and/or Pacific West Conference.
The AADC also serves as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator and works with the university Title IX Coordinator to ensure a safe learning, living, and working environment at Hawai‘i Pacific University.

Desired Qualifications: - Master's degree in a related field. - Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, review and implement NCAA rules and regulations. - Three or more years of experience working in intercollegiate athletics administration. - Advanced knowledge of NCAA Division II rules. - Working knowledge of ARMS compliance application. - Experience and mastery of rules education programs for athletes and staff. - Experience preparing and submitting NCAA waivers.
Other Qualifications: - Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position. - Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU’s winter break, if necessary. - This position may be considered an essential position with report to work obligations depending on the type of emergency, campus closure, or evacuation. - Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy. - Upon hire, candidate must have reliable personal transportation to facilitate travel between to all HPU worksites and other locations as required by the position. This includes a valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle that is legally registered and insured. - Maintains normal business office hours 8:00am-5:00pm and able to work all shifts and extended hours as required. - Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilizes excellent time and stress management skills. - Creative and intuitive ways of working with coaches and athletes, while staying within NCAA guidelines, is highly desired. - Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and prioritize scheduling of work as needed by department and assigned by AD. - Positive attitude and demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, review and manage department compliance tasks.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:
1. Eligibility Certification and NCAA Compliance Oversight (80%) - Develops and implements departmental policies to ensure/enforce compliance with the NCAA regulation. - Coordinates and conducts initial transfer and continuing eligibility certification process. - Prepares NCAA appeals and waiver requests. - Oversee and manage department and team scholarship equivalencies. - Collaborates with financial aid and admissions office to determine exempt and non-exempt aid and monitor compliance with NCAA financial aid rules. - Monitors playing season activity for individual sport programs. - Generates National Letter of Intent/Athletics Grant in Aid letters. - Coordinates and assists with processing of athletics aid renewals on annual basis. - Approves and oversees all recruiting related activities and sports camps and clinics. - Investigates and reports NCAA and Pacific West Conference rules violations. - Prepares and administers all required NCAA compliances forms to student athletes annually. - Designs and implements rules education for coaches and University staff on regular basis as needed by the department and directed by the AD. - Provides interpretation of NCAA rules to staff, coaches and student-athletes. - Serves as the compliance liaison between the Athletics Department and other university departments. - Ensure NCAA equivalency of distribution of aid. - Administrator of ARMS software for department. - Helps set and implement the strategic direction and goals of the entire department. - Serve as a member of the department’s senior leadership team and provides counsel to the Director of Athletics on financial, operational, and administration issues. - Provides Game Management at home events. - In collaboration, assists with implementation of department-wide events (SA Banquet, golf tournament, event management, etc.). 2. Deputy Title IX Coordinator (15%) - Involved in Title IX training. - Works with the Title IX Coordinator to meet with athletic teams. - Works with the Title IX Coordinator on NCAA, PacWest, and institution initiatives
3. Perform other duties, as assigned (5%) - Actively participates as an effective member of team by completing assigned duties on time, accepting additional assignments or reassignments as needed. [MC3] - Assists with seasonal peaks.
