POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Baseball Coach will support the Head Coach in all aspects of coaching, including planning and conducting practices, preparing for games, and fostering a positive and safe environment. This role is vital in helping our student-athletes achieve their full potential both on and off the field. This role will also focus on managing the pitching staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting practice sessions.
• Support the development and implementation of game strategies.
• Provide instruction and development to pitchers and manage the pitching staff.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture.
• Assist in the recruitment and retention of talented student athletes.
• Participate in team events, fundraisers, and community engagement activities.
• Monitor academic progress and support student-athletes in balancing their academic and athletic commitments.
• Ability to recruit student-athletes

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to hear well enough to communicate effectively with co-workers, vendors, and athletes.
• Frequently convey detailed or important coaching instructions and ideas accurately, clearly, and quickly.
• Ability to demonstrate pitching techniques
• Ability to hit fungos and throw batting practice.
• Strong visual and auditory abilities to quickly and accurately assess performances and provide feedback.
• Willingness and ability to travel and endure long hours during games, practices, and events.

WORK SCHEDULE:

• The Assistant Coach is required to work according to game schedules, meetings, and practices. This assistant coach schedule does not operate on a traditional work schedule.

TRAVEL:

• Travel is required for away games and recruiting.

Qualifications

• Three years minimum of baseball coaching at the college or professional level.
• Supports NGU’s mission statement and core values, commitment to a Christian lifestyle and character in keeping with a biblical model.
• Affirm an understanding of the Baptist Faith & Message 2000
• Affirm understanding of the University’s Statement on Human Flourishing
• Agree to abide by the employee handbooks, including community standards agreements.
