Position Summary

The Assistant Baseball Coach will serve in all phases of a competitive baseball program in accordance with University of the Incarnate Word, Southland Conference, and

NCAA

rules and regulations. The Assistant Baseball Coach reports to the Head Baseball Coach.

Job Duties

- Assist the head coach in managing and directing the baseball program. - Assist the head coach with all aspects of the team including training, competing and scheduling. - Conduct throw batting practice. - Organize and maintain accurate inventory of equipment and uniforms. - Coordinate travel arrangements. - Coordinate scouting and video exchange. - Coordinate facility needs of visiting teams. - Organize and complete all required paperwork. - Recruiting will take up around 50% of this role: finding players, answering phones when recruits call, and doing video homework on potential student-athletes. - Assist coaching staff on enrollment/tracking of incoming student athletes. - Assist the administration with alumni relations and scholarship fundraising. - Assist in personal development of student-athletes academically and athletically. - Commit to and ensure adherence to all rules and regulations set forth for the team, the University, the Southland Conference and the NCAA. - Assist with recruiting including calling prospective student-athletes, evaluating high school and junior college players. - Work cooperatively with personnel in the athletics department, attending department meetings and activities, and always representing the university positively when interacting with the community, alumni, high school and club coaches, media and general public. - Perform other duties as assigned. |
