This position plays a key role in preparing student-athletes for success both on the lanes and in the classroom by providing instruction in technique, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Assistant Coach also contributes to competition operations, team travel coordination, and recruiting efforts.

The ideal candidate is a motivated and team-oriented individual with experience in bowling and a passion for coaching student-athletes. They demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills and are committed to helping athletes develop both competitively and personally.
They are dependable, adaptable, and comfortable working non-traditional hours, including weekends and travel. This individual brings a strong understanding of sportsmanship, teamwork, and student-athlete development, while maintaining professionalism and integrity in all interactions.

Responsibilities
Competition Travel & Support (75%)
- Assist coaching staff during competitions and events
- Support coordination of team travel, including meals, lodging, and logistics
- Travel with the team and assist with transportation, including driving vans to away competitions
Coaching & Instruction (20%)
- Assist in planning and implementing team practices
- Provide instruction on bowling techniques, skills, and team dynamics
- Support student-athletes’ growth and success both academically and athletically
Recruitment (5%)
- Assist in identifying and recruiting prospective student-athletes
- Support recruiting efforts, including potential travel to youth tournaments and showcases
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to support coaching, travel, and student-athlete development
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
- 2–3 years of experience coaching or participating in collegiate bowling
- Knowledge of NAIA and USBC rules and regulations
- Experience working with student-athletes or in a team environment
Work Schedule
This is a part-time position with primary work hours occurring during competition weekends, typically Friday evening through Sunday upon return to campus. Additional weekday hours may be required for practices or competitions. The position is expected to average 20–30 hours per week.
