The Assistant Cheer Coach will support the Head Coach in all aspects of coaching, including planning and conducting practices, preparing for games and competitions, and fostering a positive and safe environment. This role is vital in helping our student-athletes achieve their full potential both on and off the mat.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting practice sessions.
Support the development and implementation of game and competition strategies.
Provide instruction and guidance on cheer techniques, tumbling, stunts, and routines.
Help ensure the safety and well-being of all team members during practices, games, and competitions.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture.
Assist in the recruitment and retention of talented student-athletes.
Participate in team events, fundraisers, and community engagement activities.
Monitor academic progress and support student-athletes in balancing their academic and athletic commitments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to hear well enough to communicate effectively with co-workers, vendors, and athletes.
Frequently convey detailed or important coaching instructions and ideas accurately, clearly, and quickly.
Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 pounds of force regularly.
The capability to demonstrate and instruct various cheerleading techniques, including stunting, motions, and dance.
Maintain the physical fitness and stamina required to participate in and oversee rigorous practice sessions and performances.
Capacity to lift, move, and support cheerleading equipment and team members during stunts and routines.
Strong visual and auditory abilities to quickly and accurately assess performances and provide feedback.
Willingness and ability to travel and endure long hours during games, practices, and events.
WORK SCHEDULE:
The Assistant Coach is required to work according to athletic game schedules, meetings, and practices. This assistant coach schedule does not operate on a traditional work schedule.
TRAVEL:
Travel is required for away games and competitions.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
Three years minimum of gameday/competitive coaching or cheer experience.
