Job Description:

Longwood University invites applications for the Assistant Coach, Baseball / Pitching Coach (GA004). The selected candidate will be responsible for all facets of conducting a successful NCAA Division I Baseball program

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• On-the-field coaching during practice and competition
• Recruit student-athletes to be outstanding students and outstanding contributors to the sports program
• Game preparation, formulation and implementation of pre-and post-season conditioning programs
• Knowledge of and proper execution of Longwood, Conference, and NCAA rules
• Direct and coordinate the planning, organizing, and coaching of the Longwood Baseball Team
• Provide leadership and instruction in terms of the personal and athletic development of student athletes at Longwood
• Must be able to study, evaluate and implement innovations in baseball strategy, and demonstrate professional integrity

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree
• Baseball coaching experience
• Pitching background
• Knowledge of academic rules for eligibility
• Knowledge of and adherence to safe practices associated with coaching the sport
• Effective interpersonal and communication (oral, written, listening) skills
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, sound judgement, and discretion in all areas of work
• Must possess the ability to recruit in Virginia and surrounding states

This position is a full-time, administrative & professional faculty, exempt position. A successful criminal background investigation is required. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
