Description

This position will assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the Men's basketball program. The Assistant Coach will assist in the recruitment, retention, academic and personal development of the student-athletes. The Assistant coach will also assist with the physical training and skill development of the student- athletes. The assistant coach is expected to have knowledge of and abide by the philosophy, rules and regulations of Pace University, the NE-10 Conference and the NCAA.

Description

Position Duties

• Assist in the organization of practice, skill development, and preparation for contests. 
• Assist with the recruiting of student-athletes who have the potential for meeting the University standards for admission and to be successful members of the Men's Basketball Team. 
• Help with the academic needs of student-athletes recruited to the University to play basketball. Such matters as class attendance, progress towards a degree and graduation rates will be considered important as will the retention rate of student-athletes recruited to the University to play basketball. The NCAA APR process is the measuring tool for monitoring progress towards a degree and retention of student-athletes. 
• Understanding and having a working knowledge of and abiding by applicable policies and regulations of Pace University, the Northeast 10 Conference, and the NCAA, it being understood that your failure to comply with such rules and regulations may result in disciplinary action taken against you by the Northeast 10, or by the NCAA or by Pace University. 
• Responsible for arranging team transportation, housing and meals. 
• Representing the University in a manner that projects sportsmanship, class and integrity at all times. On and off court behavior is considered extremely important in this regard. 
• Fulfilling such other related duties that arise or are assigned by the Head Men's Basketball Coach.  
• Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.     

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, this position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs are individuals at the University who, because of their function at the University, have an obligation under the Clery Act to notify the University of alleged Clery Crimes that are reported to them in good faith, or alleged Clery Crimes that they may personally witness. CSAs will be required to complete training with respect to the Clery Act and the responsibilities of a CSA.

Supervision Exercised

The Assistant Coach will supervise student athletes and team managers.

Position Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required. 
• Previous playing and/or coaching experience on the high school, club or collegiate level.
• Must demonstrate potential to teach, lead, and counsel college student-athletes.
• Basic working knowledge of NCAA Division II rules.
• Ability to operate a vehicle.
• CPR/AED Certified or ability to obtain.
• Care and prevention of sports injuries certification.

Work Hours

Full time; hours vary based on game and practice schedules. Early morning, late evening hours as well as weekend and holiday work may be required. Must be able to travel with the team to away competitions and for recruiting.
