The Assistant eSports Coach assists the Head Coach in all operations of a successful Rocket League team , including recruiting, retaining and coaching members of the eSports team. The Assistant Coach is responsible for day-to-day coaching responsibilities of the Rocket League team. This position will also assist the Head Coach on the coordination of travel, game day operations and organization of summer camps. This is a part-time stipend position, working around 5 hours per week.

Essential Functions

• Lead the day-to-day operations of the Rocket League Team
• Assist the head coach to ensure academic performance and personal development of student-athletes
• Demonstrate high level of intercultural competence and the ability to work with diverse populations
• Maintain a high level of professionalism toward student athletes, other coaches, parents, administrators, and members of the community
• Adhere to all Illinois College and Midwest eSport Conference rules and regulation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, recommended
• Intercultural competency; ability to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds
• Able to develop and maintain collaborative relationships, engage in creative problem-solving, and extend enlightened hospitality when working with others.
• Coaching experience, preferred
• Must understand and value the liberal arts experience for students at Illinois College, especially including participation in other sports, clubs and organizations, and having an academic experience
• Ability to work weekdays, weekends, and evenings
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Possess an outcomes-oriented approach to coaching
