Stanford Athletics is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Coach, Field Hockey). The Assistant Coach needs to have experience working with goalkeepers and is responsible for assisting the Head Coach with defensive principles. Additionally, but not limited to coaching the varsity field hockey team, as well as assisting with the administration of recruiting, training, practice, team management, budget management, and team travel. The Assistant Coach also has the opportunity to participate in summer camp operations, consistent with institutional and NCAA regulations. This is an on-site, six-month fixed-term position.

Your responsibilities include :

  • Practice design of GK training sessions, assessment, and individual growth plans for each.
  • Assist the Head Coach with defensive principles and defensive unit play.
  • Daily coding and video sessions
  • Game Day coding/filming.
  • Daily team operational tasks with team travel, team meals, equipment, etc.
  • Support and facilitate a healthy team culture that supports the development of grounded self-awareness and growth mindset, selfless teamwork, personal and team integrity, and competitive greatness.
  • Help plan and organize team training and practice sessions, and use video analysis to provide feedback to players, within NCAA regulations and with respect for the academic demands of Stanford student-athletes.
  • Assist with identifying, assessing, and recruiting top student-athletes to compete at Stanford, within the context of applicable NCAA regulations and University admission expectations.
  • Assist with the organization required with visiting teams, recruits, and other parties.
