Wilson College seeks a dynamic and motivated Assistant Coach for Esports to support our growing program. This role focuses on the holistic development and success of student-athletes/teams while contributing to the supervision and management of the Esports arena. The Assistant Coach will assist with coaching at least two different Esports titles and support team preparation, performance analysis, and recruiting efforts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Coach at least two Esports titles as assigned by the Esports Director.
Assist in recruiting qualified students who can contribute competitively and academically.
Organize and lead practice sessions, preparing the team for competition and analyzing performance.
Maintain knowledge of Esports rules, regulations, and conference compliance.
Serve as a role model for student team members, ensuring adherence to departmental expectations regarding behavior and sportsmanship.
Ensure the team maintains high competitive value.
Manage and facilitate team travel logistics, including securing and driving a college vehicle, event registration, and organizing meals for team members.
Supervise the Esports arena during open hours, including one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday).
COMPETENCY:
Experience with collegiate Esports programs (prior coaching experience preferred).
Strong task management, organizational, and time-management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage stress and challenging situations effectively.
Integrity in managing the Esports arena and teams.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is an in-person, part-time position (20 hours per week) for 32 weeks per year.
Variable hours depending on the needs of the department
Must be available to work evenings and weekends
TRAVEL:
ââOccasional travel (and driving) for in-person events and tournaments.â
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma required.
Proven coaching experience in Esports or related fields.
