The University of Maine Farmington (UMF) is searching for a dedicated, energetic Assistant Coach for our Men’s and Women’s Track & Field teams. 

What You’ll Do:

• Assist the Head Coach with practices, competitions, and strategy
• Coach athletes in both training and meets—indoor and outdoor
• Scout, recruit, and build relationships with prospective student-athletes
• Contribute to strength & conditioning, film analysis, and daily operations
• Serve as a supportive mentor and role model, ensuring NCAA and NAC compliance

This position is part-time/temp appointment and pays a $6,000 stipend

Typical calendar: September 15 - May 15

Essential Duties

• Participates in competitions and practices, including the organization and implementation of daily practices for our indoor and outdoor seasons.
• Coaches in competition and training.
• Prepares film breakdowns and analyses; presents the analysis to team members. 
• Plans and prepares for competition and training. 
• Assists in organizing team travel and meals. 
• Assists with scouting, recruitment, and strategy development. Supports player and leadership development. 
• Contributes to strength and conditioning programs, including one-on-one strength and conditioning work with student-athletes. 
• Provides support and encouragement to student-athletes.   
• Understands NCAA and North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rules, compliance, and bylaws. 
• Ensures the safety and well-being of student-athletes. 
• Serves as an effective role model for college-age students. 
• Assists with the day-to-day operations of the Track and Field program. 
• Attends and participates in department trainings.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience with the skills of track and field related to any of the following disciplines, not limited to: distance events, sprints, hurdles, or jump events
• Valid driver's license (in good standing, based on UMS standards)
• Availability for practices and weekend competitive schedule

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Collegiate competitive experience/coaching
• Sports recruiting experience
