MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Delivery of a sport-specific training program including coaching workouts and collaborating with the Head Coach in workout development.
Assist with the implementation of the Head Coach’s seasonal training plan for the club.
Help each swimmer set individual goals.
Responsible for the management of the team at all club functions.
Assist the Head Coach with team selection and relays for all meets.
Conduct team tryouts as scheduled by the Head Coach.
Responsible for inventory of equipment.
Act as a liaison between team participants and the Recreation Manager (Aquatics).
Must be able to interpret and apply rules and regulations of USMS.
Must have certifications as required by the sport-specific governing body.
Must comply with industry standards for safety and participation.
Complete concussion management training, CPR, and First Aid and lifeguard certification within 90 days.
Create a productive learning environment to ensure the growth of the individual as well as the team.
Offer stroke development clinics and individual lessons.
Engage team to support the University.
Job Activities to Include:
To coach the participants throughout the calendar year and help with events and competitions.
To assist participants in distributing team information and marketing materials.
To ensure that the participants are operating within the rules of the sport and USF while at home and away as a team.
To assist with collation of information and entries as necessary ensuring that all records are kept on database and information is disseminated as directed.
To attend organized team events and meetings as necessary.
To assist in ensuring that all waivers, memberships, and insurance forms are kept up to date and maintained with the RSD.
To adhere to all of the procedures and quality standards for delivery, management and administration of Masters Swim Team.
To undertake all such other duties as the management of the RSD shall direct.
Other duties as assigned by the Recreation Manager (Aquatics) and approved by the Director of the RSD.
Working Hours
This is a part-time position limited to 10-20 hours per week. Weekly schedule may vary due to practice time, facility availability, practices, meets, travel, or extra training sessions.
The Structure
You will report directly to the Recreation Manager (Aquatics) within the RSD.
Constraints
There is a need to adhere to:
General Health and Safety as it pertains to the specific sport.
The post holder will be able to refer matters to the Recreation Manager (Aquatics) on a daily basis as necessary, for advice, guidance, and consultation.
Attendance at assigned scheduled practices and meets is required.
Working Knowledge
There is a need to adhere to:
General health and safety as it pertains to the sport.
Data protection.
Athlete protection.
Injury reports and prevention.
Records and Reports
Daily reports and record keeping are expected. The post holder will compile and record information, results, entries etc. All records and files need to be kept and communicated with the Recreation Manager (Aquatics).
Education and Experience
The post holder is expected to have a sports-specific qualification and relevant experience. The post holder should be able to carry out the range of duties satisfactorily.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

Qualification in sport, leisure or related field
Experience of playing or working in sports development
Event/Coaching qualifications and experience
Flexibility to work irregular hours
Full, clean driving license
