| Position Summary |
Under the direction of the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach provides support to the student-athletes and coaches on the Men’s Basketball team surrounding athletic, academic, physical, social, and spiritual development. The position requires a competent understanding of the of the sport of basketball, knowledge and compliance of all Conference and NCAA rules.
In addition the Assistant Coach will assist with carrying out aspects of the assigned NCAA Division I program, including but not limited to coaching, mentoring, supporting, and developing the student-athletes. The Assistant Coach has responsibility for compliance with all Conference and NCAA rules and represents La Salle University to the program’s various internal and external constituents. The Assistant Coach has an integral role in providing a positive experience for each student-athlete and is expected to support La Salle University’s educational philosophy and the goals of the Athletic Department as a loyal, energetic, and highly visible University representative.

| Essential Duties |
- Assists with day-to-day operations of the men’s basketball program specifically.
- Assists with all aspects of team travel, including hotels, flights and charter buses.
- Supervises game day coordination of the team for home games.
- Supervises day to day operations including practice schedules, and upkeep of the locker room.
- Supervises purchases of equipment and coordinates with the Equipment Manager upkeep of all team equipment.
- Works with vendors to order, design, logo (within branding guidelines), and distribute uniforms/gear to members of program.
- Secures attendance of student-athletes at all mandatory meetings.
- Assists the head coach, assistant coaches, and student-athletes in community service opportunities and appearances.
- Assists in the collection of required admissions-related paperwork for prospective student-athletes.
- Uses film exchange software to coordinate all film exchange during the season; creates highlight and scouting tapes for instruction for upcoming opponents.
- Secures facilities on a day-to-day basis for all home and away practice times; and, serves as a liaison with facilities and men’s basketball on scheduling.
- Collaborates with visiting basketball teams to coordinate scheduling of practice times, and assists visiting teams with game day needs, such as pre-game meals.
- Records game statistics as required and presents statistics and analysis as requested.
- Assists the Head Coach and Assistant Coaches with the coordination of pre-season and summer training, including meals, housing, etc. and coordinates on-campus housing with the Senior Associate Director of Athletics/Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) for incoming and transfer student-athletes.
- Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
- Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as required by the Head Coach.
- Know, understand, and be responsible for all compliance with rules, regulations, and philosophies of the NCAA, various conferences, and La Salle University, including La Salle rules, regulations, polices, procedures, handbooks and manuals, applicable to the basketball program and to the students and athletes at La Salle.
- Responsibility for compliance with NCAA Bylaw 10.1 (ethical conduct) and NCAA Bylaw 11.2 (contractual agreements).
- Responsible for compliance with all of the regulations of Title IX related to Athletics in the administration of all-intercollegiate athletic programs, policies, and procedures.
- Must pass the NCAA test administered by the Faculty Athletics Representative.
- Report immediately all suspected or alleged NCAA and conference eligibility problems, rules infractions, and disciplinary actions to the Director of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics.
- Report immediately all suspected or alleged violations of law, and suspected or alleged violations of La Salle rules, regulations, policies, procedures, handbooks and manuals to the Director of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics. Report anything, which may attract press/media attention to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics & Recreation and the Head Coach.
- As a representative of the University, lead and behave in an exemplary fashion especially by demonstrating reasonable self-control at contests with players, opposing coaches and players, officials, and fans. Refrain from any physical and/or verbal abuse of student-athletes, referees, or any persons associated with the Atlantic 10 Conference or the University.
- Promote principles of sportsmanlike and ethical conduct in the Men’s Basketball program, which support fundamental values of respect, fairness, civility, honesty, and responsibility among student athletes, staff and fans.
- Assist in the organization of all aspects of an athletes’ development, including practice sessions, and preparation for contests.
- Accept no speaking engagement for money, endorsements, or any other outside employment at any time without prior approval of the Athletic Director.
- Involvement in the total athletic program of the University, including attendance at coaches meeting and support of department goals and objectives.
- Support La Salle University’s educational philosophy and the goals of the Athletic Department as a loyal, energetic and highly visible University representative.
- Teach, coach, mentor, and inspire student athletes up through graduation.
- Assist in the organization of all aspects of an athletes’ development, including practice sessions, and preparation for contests.
- Attend all competitions and practices unless directed to other tasks by the Head Coach and teach student-athletes proper skills and skill development in their sport.
- Create a positive environment for student-athletes by communicating clearly and fairly with each student-athlete on matters that affect his/her development including academic, physical, social, spiritual and athletic issues.
- Promote the general University and Athletics program including, but not limited to
- Attend appropriate alumni functions and post-game gatherings.
- Assist in organization, follow-up and contact of alumni and friends of the University for the purpose of recruiting quality student-athletes, promoting
attendance at games, and promoting the University in general.
- Regularly communicate with students, faculty, and administration to promote general enthusiasm for the program and attendance at games.
- Be involved in the total athletic program of the University, including attendance at coaches meeting and support of department goals and objectives.

- Attendance at appropriate alumni functions and post-game gatherings.
- Participate actively in professional organizations through attendance at conferences, clinics and conventions as authorized by the Director in order to maintain awareness and understanding of current developments within all areas of responsibility.

| Required Qualifications |
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 2-3 years experience in college or professional basketball as a player, coach or administrator. A combination of equivalent education and/or experience.
- Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification must be maintained.
- Valid driver’s license and successful clearance of motor vehicle record check, successful background check clearances to include a PA Criminal Records Check, FBI Fingerprinting Check and PA Child Abuse Clearance Check.
- Understanding of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Master’s degree and experience as a Division I student-athlete, coach or administrator is preferred.

| Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours |
- Must have flexibility and be able to sustain long work hours including evenings, early morning and weekends.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
- Position requires frequent travel.
