Job Description

As the assistant coach, you will help to take care of recruiting, scouting, promotions, statistics, coaching, practice planning, game preparation, academic support, fundraising, and day-to-day office work. You will work with the head coach, during both on and off season, to provide individual and team instruction to artist-athletes on rules and fundamentals, pre-competition activities, skill attainment, and methods required to demonstrate satisfactory performance in a safe manner. In this position you are responsible for reviewing videos of opponent performances and designing individual and team instruction; determining specific daily practice activities; and keeping informed of modern trends, techniques, and strategies while transferring the knowledge in the development and implementation of game strategy and position assignments.

As the assistant coach, it is your duty to emphasize values of competitive athletics, acceptable personal behavior, and decision-making, always serving as an exemplary professional. In your recruiting duties, you must abide by all rules and regulations set forth by the NAIA, sometimes traveling to attend showcases and other recruiting events throughout the year. You must be able to communicate skillfully with colleagues, subordinates, and artist-athletes while setting an example for fair play in relationships with your team, officials, administration, and opponents in victory or defeat. This role includes helping direct artist-athletes in pursuit of their degrees and any endeavors they may seek outside of the classroom, assessing and analyzing team competitive performance, and supporting student community outreach efforts.

Additional responsibilities include attending department meetings and functions, planning trips, caring for uniforms and equipment, tracking grades, meeting with recruits, working with admission, working within the budget, scouting for games, and other administrative duties given by the head coach.
