Endicott College is seeking qualified and motivated applicants for Assistant Men’s Rugby Coach. This is a part-time position and is a fantastic opportunity to work with a striving collegiate rugby club to play a key role in the club's continued development and success.
Apply NowApplicants will be expected to collaborate with the athletics department advisor and team leaders to set goals, develop budgets, evaluate organizational needs, problem-solve, and serve as a liaison with other college departments essential to program implementation and success.
Endicott College competes during both the Fall (15’s) and Spring (7’s) semesters. The Assistant Coach will be expected to commit to a work schedule during the competitive season that includes up to three practices per week and weekend matches. The Assistant Coach will be expected to commit to recruiting and attending various college events to further the team's interests.
The Assistant Coach will be inheriting a group of highly talented and motivated men with substantial rugby experience that have continued to compete at Nationals every year.
Primary responsibilities will include:
Providing instruction, mentoring and guidance to student athletes to allow them to
Develop their athletic skills and abilities to maximum potential.
Evaluating athletic ability and performance.
Assuring that equipment and practice plans are prepared in advance of practice sessions.
Maintaining positive and professional relations with students, athletes, and alumni
Ability to teach safe and proper technique to beginning level players while challenging and integrating the skills of higher-level players
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will exhibit the following experiences and skills:
Knowledge of current NCR laws, playing styles and coaching methods. Recent playing or coaching experience is a plus. Able to adapt coaching skills to the needs and goals of the team.
Ability to teach players with varying levels of experience the fundamentals of rugby
Strong understanding of offensive and defensive strategy, set pieces and situational decision-making
Leadership and managerial skills
