Position Summary

Concordia University seeks applicants for a temporary part time Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at the Ann Arbor, Michigan campus. The purpose of this position is to instruct student athletes, equipping them with strategies and techniques to help them realize success in athletics, academics, and social experiences. This position is responsible for the following and not limited to practice and game strategy and planning, budgeting and academic monitoring of current student-athletes.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Head Men's Soccer Coach, the Stipend Assistant Men's Soccer Coach provides assistance to the head coach in all facets of the program to continue to develop an elite program including the teaching the sport of soccer to student athletes.

• Demonstrate Christian concern for athlete's academic, athletic, social and spiritual development
• Assists the Head Coach in formulating, teaching, and coaching all aspects of game preparation and game strategy
• Instruct student-athletes how to succeed in soccer, the classroom and in life through techniques demonstrated, modeled, and shown in practice, on game day, on campus and in the community
• Assist with scheduling and organization of practice sessions
• Oversees the mental and physical preparation of athletes for contests
• Assist with the management of equipment, facilities, team travel, and game day operations
• Oversees the development of Junior Varsity players
• May perform other duties as assigned
• Abide by NAIA and WHAC conference rules and regulations

Qualifications

• Collegiate playing experience
• Knowledge of and commitment to following NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations.
• 3+ years coaching experience in a college setting preferred
• Background in fundraising and working camps desired
• Coaching licenses a plus

• Knowledge of effective coaching techniques and best practices
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with student-athletes, coaches and athletic and university administration. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Energetic and motivated to learn and progress in soccer coaching
• Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with school administrators, parents, students and alums
• Common knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Available evenings and weekends
• Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)

Education & Experience

• 1-3 years coaching experience, college or university experience preferred, or closely related work experience, skill set and/or training
• Bachelor's degree in related field, or extensive and related experience, skills, and/or training

Compensation & Benefits

This is a part-time, exempt (salary/stipend) staff position for Fall 2024. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience. No benefits are associated with this position.
