The assistant coach helps the head coach with all activities of the designated program, including but not limited to recruitment and retention of student-athletes; monitoring of student-athletes’ academic progress; striving for competitive success; management of budget; and ensuring the program’s compliance with University and governing body guidelines.

Student-Athlete Academic Success
Prioritizes, promotes, and actively supports student-athlete academic achievement
Assists the head coach with managing all aspects of the student life sports athletic program, including monitoring academic success, retention, and graduation progress; implements action plans with the appropriate academic staff when necessary
Follows appropriate academic policies and effectively collaborates with the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) and Academic Support Services to resolve conflicts
Competitive Success of Sport
Identifies, evaluates, and recruits student-athletes for success at Lindenwood University
Imparts to student-athletes the fundamental philosophy, skills, and knowledge essential to the sport
Produces a high-performing team capable of meeting and maintaining competitive expectations as determined by the University athletic administration
Acts in accordance with the athletic code of conduct and exhibits a professional and sportsman-like manner
Administration
Maintains current knowledge of and adheres to the policies, procedures, bylaws, regulations, and rules of Lindenwood University, Intercollegiate Athletics, and the program’s governing body
Completes all program administrative responsibilities according to procedures
Supports the head coach by operating a fiscally responsible program; provides leadership for the team’s fundraising activities and program advancement initiatives
Properly cares for, stores, distributes, and maintains a detailed inventory of team equipment, uniforms, and supplies
Communication, Collaboration, and Q2 Service Excellence
Supports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence
Models, supports, and holds others accountable to the University’s values – integrity, dedication, excellence, creativity, and teamwork – and to Athletics values: responsible, original, all-encompassing, and relentless
Promotes and takes pride in the Athletics department
Anticipates needs of students, colleagues, and administrators; takes ownership to respond promptly
Community Relations and Engagement
Establishes effective relationships with the community while positively representing the program, department, and University
Creates experiential learning opportunities for student-athletes by actively engaging or participating in campus and/or community outreach projects and events
Maintains effective relationships with alumni and works to keep them engaged with the University

Required Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Playing and coaching experience preferred
