The Assistant Coach, Softball, is responsible for assisting with all aspects of planning, managing and developing a successful intercollegiate Women’s Softball program in accordance with the standards and goals set by William Peace University.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES
AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
:
Reporting to the Head Coach, Softball, the individual holding this position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
• Adhere to all applicable
NCAA
and university regulations that relate to recruiting, daily program management and operation of the individual sport.
• Recruit quality student athletes by means of personal contact, phone and written correspondence with player, coach and parents.
• Evaluate ability either in person or through videotape analysis.
• Make frequent off-campus trips to watch games/matches/meets.
• Assist in arranging on-campus visits for prospective student athletes while ensuring compliance with
NCAA
guidelines for contacting and entertaining prospects.
• Assist in scheduling games, practices, facility and vehicle use in conjunction with the Director of Athletics and other
WPU
staff.
• Assist in scheduling and planning practices. Ensure compliance with
NCAA
regulations on Playing Season. Per
NCAA
Bylaw 17.01 and 17.02
• Assist with home athletic event game management in conjunction with the Head Coach.
• Assist with approved fundraising activities, as requested.
• Coordinate team travel in conjunction with the Head Coach.
• Evaluate team and individual performance.
• Develop and implement strategies for motivating student-athletes to perform at maximum levels as both individuals and a team.
• Effectively work with a diverse population of students, employees, visitors, and guests.
• Monitor the condition of playing equipment and facilities used by his/her team to ensure the safety of student-athletes and staff.
• Monitor the eligibility status and promote the academic progress of student-athletes.
• Responsible for campus facilities and equipment during practices/home sporting events.
• Possess a comprehensive knowledge of athletic conditioning and team physical training.
• Prepare game plans based on scouting reports and team evaluation.
• Participate in, organize, and lead clinics, exhibitions, and camps, as approved.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must be available to work a non-traditional, varying schedule that may include early mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, overnight travel, and occasional holidays.
• Ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids.
• Ability to work in all climates and weather such as hot, cold, humid, rainy, and sunny conditions.
• Ability to demonstrate proper techniques and form of exercises.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Exhibit manual dexterity to operate both office and sport related equipment.
• Frequently is required to walk, sit, stand, and reach with hands and arms.
• Speak in audible tones so that others understand clearly, adjusting to a louder volume at practices, games, and other events as required.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

QUALIFICATIONS
:
Candidates who apply within established recruitment dates are required to meet the minimum qualifications to be considered for employment. Minimum qualifications are the absolute smallest amount of experience and education that provide the ability to determine if the candidate could potentially perform well in the position. Preferred are the qualifications that enable a candidate to potentially excel in the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree with two years of relevant experience
• Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
• Collegiate coaching experience
• Certification in
