Under the direction of the Director of Sports Performance, the Assistant Coach, Sports Performance will develop and manage effective individual and group sports performance programs for student-athletes participating in UNCW’s Division I intercollegiate athletic program. Develop sport-specific programming that is scientifically-based, involves periodized/cycled regimens of exercises and drills to optimize strength, power, flexibility, mobility, agility, speed and/or work capacity-designed to enhance sport performance and decrease incidence of non-contact injuries. Demonstrate and implement safe, effective and proven exercise techniques at each training session and delivers programs in an organized manner using the field’s best practices. Adhere to all UNCW, CAA, and NCAA guidelines and provide student-athletes an exceptional collegiate experience while competing for championships. Employ effective communication skills to establish relationships and conduct work at a high level with a wide range of constituents (coaches, student-athletes, administrators, etc.).
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with an emphasis in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or Physical Education with at least one year of related experience. Knowledge of strength and conditioning exercise technique. Demonstrated leadership and communication skills along with strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Ability to organize and instruct groups ranging from (2) to (50) student-athletes at one time. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

NSCA – C.S.C.S. (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) and/or CSCCa – SCCC (Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified) CPR/First Aid Certification
