Apply NowDevelops, monitors, and instructs student-athletes in a variety of conditioning programs for designated sports. Assists leaders and/or coaches in the day-to-day operations of the Sport Performance facility. Provides assigned student-athletes with well-rounded programs that are up to date with current standards and research. Adheres to all rules and regulations that govern the program. Assists with assigned administrative duties.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: -
1. Designs, implements, oversees, and maintains scientifically based strength and conditioning programs for assigned teams and/or cohort of student-athletes
2. Performs appropriate testing to determine the needs of each assigned student-athlete to assist with program development and individual goals
3. Employs sound coaching techniques and practices
4. Provides supervision of the weight room facility, maintains equipment, and maintains a safe and functioning training facility
5. Responsible for the scheduling and maintenance of the weight room and facilities
6. Reports and documents injuries incurred while training to the appropriate staff and leadership
7. Develops and maintains an internship program in accordance with Kennesaw State University's
internship coordinators and the Exercise Science department
8. Directs and oversees assigned sport performance coach interns in day-to-day program operations
9. Assists with functional rehabilitation as assigned
10. Maintains student-athlete program records and reports program status to coaches
11. Assists with daily administrative requirements
12. Follows appropriate opening and closing procedures
13. Serves as a Campus Security Authority as defined by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus
Educational Requirements
Associate's from an accredited institution of higher education or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license
Certification for Strength and Conditioning personnel (CSCS and/or SCCC)
Current, and valid CPR/AED certification
Required Experience
Two (2) years of relevant experience in strength conditioning, performance training, and/or coaching in a post-secondary level program, professional athlete, professional tour participant or professional coach in a related sport program
Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in exercise science, kinesiology, athletic training or related field
ABILITIES
Establishes and maintains effective professional working relationships with student-athletes, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and the public
Serves as a spokesperson for the intercollegiate program
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Possesses a thorough knowledge of and commitment to compliance with all NCAA, and conference, State of Georgia and university policies, rules and regulations
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite and related athletics software programs)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
