Job Description

Carnegie Mellon University’s Department of Athletics is searching for an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. Carnegie Mellon has a world-renowned reputation with core values that reflect its commitment to hiring and retaining individuals with a diversity of talents, perspectives and experiences. A national research university, Carnegie Mellon is a member of the NCAA Division III intercollegiate sports program. Applicant will work with a variety of sports and should have a working knowledge of basic weight training, plyometric, and speed development exercises. This is a full-time, 10-month position from August through May, with off-months in the summer.

Core responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and direct coaching and implementation of specialized strength and conditioning programs for Softball, Men’s soccer, Men’s basketball, and Men’s/Women’s Golf and Tennis

  • Collaborate across multi-sport programs to provide high level assistance for Football, Volleyball, Women’s Soccer, and Men’s/Women’s Cross Country

  • Lead the daily organization, calibration, and execution of Hawkin Dynamic force plate testing across our athlete population

  • Participate in the management of the graduate and undergraduate internship program through the University of Pittsburgh

  • Maintain proactive communication with Sport Coaches of assigned teams 

  • Foster a collaborative environment with Athletic Trainers to ensure safe and effective training for rehabilitating athletes

  • Serve as a key stakeholder in the Sport Performance Team’s holistic development model

  • Collaborate, design, and distribute summer training manuals to all student athletes

  • Execute performance profiling for student-athletes of assigned teams to evaluate power, speed, fitness, strength, and agility 

  • Maintain and review weight room equipment and inventory

  • Support the Department of Athletics in event operations, contributing to the management of various home and special events

  • Teach a weight training course in the Physical Education Program

  • Ability to work outside normal business hours and on weekends
