Position Description
The University of South Dakota Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach -Football is responsible for: all aspects of the training for football athletic performance. Additionally, design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for one

sport as assigned by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. Applicant must exhibit ability to instruct, supervise and demonstrate associated exercises in a weightlifting based training environment, as well as appropriate performance development and conditioning strategies. Successful candidate will be expected to coordinate with the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, Athletic Trainers, and Position Coaches regarding the health, welfare, physical and scholastic development of the student-athlete.
Responsibilities:
Position responsibilities will include (but not limited to) maintenance of strength & conditioning equipment and facility, as well as assisting the management of the strength & conditioning department budget. Staff will be expected to contribute to the training theories and methodology advancing the level of excellence within the program through continuing education opportunities. Administrative and supervisory-capacity duties will be assigned as needed.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree required in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field. Must be certified by the National Strength & Conditioning Association or Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association. Documented
CPR
and
AED
certifications are also required. Must have at least 1 academic year, full or part time experience in a
NCAA
member strength & conditioning program, working with both male and female athletes.
Preferred experience:
Master’s Degree preferred. Collegiate football playing experience, military service, practical knowledge of speed development, and the experience of training football at the collegiate level will also be given advanced consideration.
