Olympic College is currently hiring for an Assistant Event Coach. This position plays a vital role in supporting the Olympic College Athletic Department and the Division of Student Development and Engagement. This position contributes to the success of the Track & Field and Cross Country programs by providing specialized coaching in one or more event areas—throws, jumps, sprints, or distance—and by fostering leadership, discipline, and personal growth among student-athletes.
Working under the direction of the Associate Head Coach and Athletic Director, the Events Coach helps ensure the smooth execution of training sessions, competition preparation, and athlete development. This role enhances the overall student-athlete experience and supports the college’s commitment to academic achievement, wellness, and inclusive engagement.

Aligned with Olympic College’s mission to foster academic and personal development, the Assistant Events Coach helps ensure that the Track & Field and Cross Country programs are competitive, inclusive, and student-centered. Through expert coaching and meaningful engagement, this role supports student success, diversity, and excellence both on and off the track.
The Assistant Events Coach is responsible for providing specialized coaching and operational support within their assigned event group (throws, jumps, sprints, or distance). Key responsibilities include: - Event-Specific Coaching: Design and implement training plans tailored to the assigned event group, focusing on skill development, performance enhancement, and injury prevention. - Athlete Development: Support the academic, athletic, and personal growth of student-athletes through mentorship, consistent communication, and individualized coaching strategies. - Recruitment Support: Assist in identifying and evaluating prospective student-athletes, contributing to recruitment efforts that align with program and institutional standards. - Travel & Competition Logistics: Help coordinate travel arrangements and competition schedules for assigned event groups, including lodging, transportation, and meet preparation. - Budget & Resource Coordination: Monitor equipment needs and assist with budget tracking related to event-specific training and competition resources. - Program Promotion: Collaborate with the sports information team to highlight athlete achievements and program milestones through social media and other platforms. - Facility Use & Coordination: Assist in scheduling and managing the use of athletic facilities and off-campus venues for practices and competitions. - Compliance & Documentation: Ensure adherence to NWAC, institutional, and state regulations, maintaining accurate records and supporting program compliance. - Departmental Engagement: Participate in athletic department initiatives such as community outreach, student development programming, and recognition events. - Team Culture & Inclusion: Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented team environment that emphasizes leadership, wellness, and academic success.
