Responsibilities include assisting the head coaches with the organization and implementation of practice plans and instruction; developing competition-day strategies and tactical planning; assessing and recruiting potential student-athletes; evaluating competition sites and creating scouting reports; assisting with camps and clinic operations; supporting player communication and feedback; overseeing team equipment; and assisting with the management of social media accounts. The Assistant Coach should be familiar with, and remain compliant with, college, SCIAC, and NCAA Division III rules and procedures. The department is particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

• Licenses/Certificates: A valid driver’s license is required or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events.

• Experience: Collegiate coaching or playing experience is required.  Experience with effective leadership, communication, coaching, and recruiting skills is preferred.  The department is particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Candidates may perform additional duties beyond their assistant coach responsibilities, which may include:

• Serving as a home contest manager, working alongside the Assistant Athletic Director for Operations and Events

• Supporting athletics communications.

• Assisting with club sports.

• Overseeing the Athletic Performance Center.

• Contributing to the Center for Athletics, Recreation, and Wellness, and serving on department committees .

REQUIRED HOURS: The hours for this position are at least 15-20 hours per week on a variable schedule. Weekend and evening work hours will be required.  Travel may be required.  Regular hours may vary due to the needs of the College or division.  Must be willing to work extensive weekend and evening hours. All staff positions are ineligible for visa or permanent resident card sponsorship. As a California employer, Pomona College requires all employees to be residents of California.

ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS: This is a temporary, part-time, non-exempt, non-benefit eligible position. The hourly rate for this role is $16.90. The specific factors that the organization will consider when offering a salary to an individual will include education, training, prior experience, and performance in prior role.
