REPORTS TO: Head Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director
DEPARTMENT: Athletics
LOCATION: Bernice Hansen Athletic Center, Grand Rapids, MI
SUMMARY: The responsibility of the Graduate Assistant for Women’s Basketball is to assist the Head Coach and her staff in various aspects of administration involving the Women’s Basketball Program.
COMPENSATION: Full tuition benefit, not including fees and books, subject to financial aid guidelines. General stipend offered.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in administrative duties
Contribute in some ways to the organization and recruitment of student athletes
Provide on court assistance to the head coach
Coordinate team travel and meal orders for away competitions and trips
Assist the coaching staff in any film related activities
Coordinate with student managers on the assigned tasks
Assist in community outreach and alumni events
Travel with the team to away games
Provide help with team summer camps
Assist in game preparation and scouting reports
Assist with management of social media platforms
Perform other duties as assigned
18 hours/week maximum, up to 936 hours/year maximum
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required
Acceptance into a Cornerstone University Master’s Degree program
Prior involvement in collegiate basketball preferred
Willingness to tackle any task presented that is related to the progress of the team, student athletes, and the institution
Demonstrated professional organizational and communication skills
Demonstrated capacity for personal leadership and conflict resolution
Proven capacity for self-motivation to meet deadlines and thrive in high-pressure environments
Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and active Christian commitment
A theology that supports the values and mission of Cornerstone University, as evidenced by an ability to affirm and sign the university’s doctrinal statement, “The Cornerstone Confession”
