Job Description

The Associate Head Field Hockey Coach will assist the head coach in all duties and responsibilities of the Women's Field Hockey program including but not limited to on field coaching, developing game plans, training and conditioning programs, organizing practice session, recruiting talented student-athletes, organizing community service projects, fundraising, assisting with the organization of the summer camp program and the coordination of travel arrangements.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for women's field hockey team on field coaching including developing game plans, training and conditioning programs; organizing practice sessions; developing and retaining athletically talented student-athletes to complete successfully within the conference, regionally, and/or nationally.

  • Assess talent and actively recruit talented student athletes to the women's field hockey program who are suitable for the UNH academic programs.

  • Coordinate all team related travel arrangements, and perform other day to day office operations to complete administrative tasks of the field hockey program as assigned by the Head Coach.

  • Assist with all aspects of the Field Hockey summer camp program, skills clinics, and other fund raising initiatives to support the Field Hockey program.

  • Organize and engage team members in community service projects.

  • Encourage student-athletes to perform to their highest academic potential, assist in monitoring student-athletes' progress toward degree requirements to remain eligible. Monitor the retention eligibility of student-athletes as it impacts field hockey's APR and the University's overall APR (Academic Progress Rate).

  • Represent the University on a high professional level, with dignity, integrity, and strength of character. Respect the rights and dignity of each student-athlete, display sensitivity to diversity issues and work to create an inclusive and welcoming environment.

  • Pass the NCAA coaches certification test, participate in athletic department meetings, attend all mandatory NCAA compliance meetings and maintain appropriate forms and documentation in office files to be reviewed upon request. Maintain competency with respect to knowledge of, compliance with, state and federal laws, University policies/regulations, America East conference rules/regulations, and NCAA rules. Report to the Director of Athletics any violations of NCAA, conference, and/or institutional rules.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of strong alumni, parent, and booster support for the Field Hockey team, promote the sport in the state, New England, the region and nationally. Assist the head coach in the pursuit of strong print, media and social media attention.
