Emory & Henry College (University as of August 1, 2024) is seeking to hire an Assistant Coach, Women's Soccer. The essential functions of this position are:

• The hired candidate will assist the head coach in overall team development, academic support, game day preparations, fundraising, recruiting, and other duties as assigned by the head coach
• The primary responsibility will be the recruiting, coaching, and development of women’s soccer student-athletes.
• The Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach assists the Head Women’s Soccer in supporting all phases of the Women’s Soccer program by establishing and maintaining a high standard of excellence that includes recruiting academically qualified student-athletes, team and player development, game preparation, and other assigned duties.

Recruitment

• Assist in the recruitment and evaluation of academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes;

Instruction

• Assist in coaching and training student-athletes at the NCAA Division II level to prepare them for competition in local, regional, and national arenas

Evaluation

• Including, but not limited to, conducting field player training sessions and assessments, leading individual/small group training sessions, scouting opponents, and assisting with in-game/halftime/postgame coaching

Working and Environmental Conditions

Office Work – King Center working in around 6+ hours per day

Field Work – Fred Self Stadium / Food City Sports Complex working around 3+ hours per day

Physical Characteristics and Requirements

|

1. Mobility ability to demonstrate basic soccer skills, instruct a soccer practice, move for 2-4 hours during practice sessions, lift soccer equipment or other items of 50 pounds.
2. Hearing well enough to communicate with students and co-workers.
3. Visual ability to drive, read, and use a computer.

About our ideal candidate

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Required Experience:

• Experience recruiting and/or coaching soccer at the collegiate level
• Knowledge of intercollegiate sports operations
• Prior coaching experience preferably at the Division II level required

Competency:

• Must have First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications or achieve certifications.

• Valid driver's license

• Knowledge of intercollegiate sports operations

• Ability to travel extensively during the recruiting process
