LC State invites applications for the position of Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach.
Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: up to $46,052
Degree Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge of NAIA or NCAA rules and regulations.
3 years of Collegiate coaching experience or 5 years of high school coaching experience in the sport of track and field.
Experience coaching short sprints, long sprints, hurdles, and relays.
Outstanding skills in communication and organization.
Ability to multitask effectively; demonstrates sound judgment and decision-making; is an effective problem solver and effectively communicates verbally and in writing.
Ability to travel and work nights/weekends and extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
Experience coaching horizontal jumps, vertical jumps, and pole vaults.
Experience with event timing as related to cross country and/or Track and field using IPICO and related sport-specific software.
Experience in fundraising and marketing activities including but not limited to fun runs, sales, camps, and clinics.
USA Track & Field and/or USTFCCCA Coaching certifications.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate and recruit prospective student-athletes to LCSC by identifying academically qualified and athletically talented prospective student-athletes, communicating and building relationships with prospects, prospect parents, and prospect coaches. Encouraging prospect application and matriculation.
Coordinate campus recruiting visits. Instruct team members, individually and in groups, in sport-related skills and techniques, particularly in skills and events as assigned by the Head Coach.
Assist in planning and implementing all aspects of the track and field program, including team organization and composition, athlete selection and evaluation, practice planning and supervision, and competition planning, scouting, and strategy.
Participate directly and/or advise the Head Coach on matters related to team discipline, athlete counseling, etc., requiring discretion, sound decision-making, and independent judgment.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or supervising athletic administrator.
Organize, market, and coach at youth camps, youth clinics, and other camps as needed.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Additional duties include direct and indirect activities to support the recruitment and retention of students.
