This position is a member of the Academic and Student‐Athlete Development Team in the Department of Athletics. This position provides mentorship and academic advising for designated teams while overseeing select support services for all student‐athletes in collaboration with other University departments across campus.

Manage academic support for student‐athletes on assigned teams, meeting weekly with select student‐athletes to coordinate academic support activities.
Communicate regularly with coaches regarding academic expectations, performance, and graduation plans.
Manage roster records in Banner, Cai, and Teamworks serving as primary contact for roster management within the Athletic Department.
Serve as Athletics liaison to the Office of Residence Life and Bon Appetit dining services to coordinate student-athlete housing and meals, including break periods.
Collaborate on the facilitation and execution of summer enrollment and programming which is inclusive of enrollment, scholarships, admissions, meals, and housing.
Manage administration of
NCAA
Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund.
Contribute to facilitation and documentation of programming connected to the holistic student-athlete benefits model (i.e. nutrition,
NIL
, sexual violence prevention,
DEIB
).
Other duties as relevant to the duties of the position or as assigned by supervisor or designee.

Required: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in education, counseling, or related field.
Required: Previous experience in academic advising and working directly with students.
Strongly Preferred: Experience working in an
NCAA
athletics department.
Or equivalent education and/or experience.

Ability to consistently handle and follow through with multiple projects and assignments and meet deadlines; ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment.

Effective ability to use and learn computers, technology, software, and applications at level of sophistication required for the duties of the position, including, without limitation, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), the internet, and computerized maintenance management systems.
All University of Portland positions require the ability to quickly learn and use new technologies, software, and applications in depth and at level of proficiency required for duties of the position. In most situations, the necessity of learning, using, and supporting new technologies, software, and/or applications does not change a job description nor make the position one that involves higher level duties.
Frequently: sit, perform desk-based computer tasks; use fine manipulation and grasp; use a telephone; write by hand; sort and file paperwork.
Occasionally: stand and walk; twist; lift, carry, push, and pull objects that up to 10 pounds.
Occasionally: ability to attend events and activities on or off campus.

Hours of employment: sometimes may require working flexible and/or longer hours, when necessitated by projects, including some early mornings, evenings/nights, and weekends.
Work-related stress: sometimes there may be stress from work-related situations such as those involving challenging, important, urgent, time-sensitive, or multiple matters.
