Context of the Job:
The Assistant Director, Compliance/Athletics Compliance Specialist at the University of Delaware is a valued member within the University and Department of Athletics, Community & Campus Recreation (DACCR), upholding and embracing the departmental mission of “Achieving Excellence Together.”.
Under general direction of the Associate AD, Compliance, the Assistant Director, Compliance/ Athletics Compliance Specialist is responsible for implementing a Division I compliance program for 22 varsity sports teams made up of 700 + student-athletes, athletics department and University staff, representatives of athletics interests and other outside constituencies.
The Assistant Director, Compliance/Athletics Compliance Specialist will have oversight for all recruiting related functions. This includes, but is not limited to monitoring, evaluating the effectiveness of current recruiting systems, and making necessary adjustments as necessary. This individual is responsible for the development and execution of a comprehensive rule’s education program for student-athletes, coaches, DACCR staff members, campus partners and boosters. The Athletics Compliance Specialist will also oversee playing and practice seasons as well as CARA.
Major Responsibilities:
Coordinate institutional monitoring systems for compliance of recruiting; including but not limited to off-campus recruiting activities, approval of recruiting materials, official and unofficial visit approvals.
Manage complimentary admissions process in collaboration with UD Ticket Office.
Responsible for playing and practice seasons and monitoring CARA.
Approves permissible outside competition requests.
Responsible for the approval, education and monitoring of all promotional activities involving student-athletes.

Responsible for tracking of awards received by student-athletes and permissibility with NCAA rules
Assists with the student-athlete admission process for DACCR through daily tracking and communication with the Admissions Office.
Assists with conference and NCAA waivers and violation reporting.
Leads, maintains, reviews, and edits the comprehensive rules education program.
Integral part of the New Employee Orientation team that works closely with and educates new coaches and athletic department employees about NCAA rules and regulations.
Assist in interpreting NCAA and conference legislation for coaches and staff.
Performs job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in Division I intercollegiate athletics preferred.
Interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to plan, organize and implement programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with NCAA regulations.
Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
Ability to gather and analyze data, compile information, and prepare reports and projections.
Proficiency with software applications, including database, spreadsheet, presentation, and word processing.
Analytical, evaluative, and critical thinking skills.
Knowledge of NCAA eligibility and legislation preferred.
Knowledge and experience with NCAA software and databases preferred.
Demonstrates an understanding and consideration of the differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying identities, cultures, and backgrounds.
