Job Summary:
Drake University is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Drake Relays Director with an emphasis on production of events outside of Drake Stadium. The successful candidate will be responsible, on a year-round basis, for leading the planning, organization and execution of the Drake Road Races, Grand Blue Mile, Relays Health and Fitness Expo, and other events, including exhibition field events out of the stadium. Key duties include supporting participants, promoting all Drake Relays related events and managing relationships with municipal agencies.
This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail, especially relating to scripting event week tasks and event execution. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and organizational skills, building positive relationships with internal teammates and successfully serving as the point person for a multitude of external stakeholders, including participants, volunteers, community partners and more.
All of the duties described herein require an understanding of and compliance with the rules of the NCAA, Missouri Valley Conference, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, Pioneer Football League and Drake University.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• The ideal candidate will have at least three to five years of experience working in the events industry and have a basic knowledge of the sports of road running and track and field.
• This position requires working nights/weekends, the ability to lift 50 pounds and the capability to work independently.
• Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and must pass a background check.
Job Duties:
25% - Serve as the Race Director, overseeing the participant experience at the Drake Road Races and Grand Blue Mile, with an emphasis on road race logistics, operations and community engagement. - (Essential)
10% - Oversee the management of the Drake Road Races website and assist with other outlets, including the Grand Blue Mile, Drake Relays and other related websites ensuring current content, accuracy and professional presentation. - (Essential)
10% - Assist in content creation for email marketing, website and social media channels, including managing a marketing calendar and implementation of social media strategy, with an emphasis on monitoring direct messages on social accounts, including Drake Relays and Drake Road Races. - (Essential)
10% - Organize and manage the Relays Health and Fitness Expo, which also serves as packet pick up for the Drake Road Races and Grand Blue Mile. - (Essential)
10% - Oversee the Relays Wellness Challenge, recruiting employers to participate. Serve as the point person for each organization. - (Essential)
10% - Support the Event Director for other out-of-stadium events such as the Vault at Capital Square, Hall of Fame Luncheon, Officials Reception, and other events as appropriate. - (Essential)
10% - Assist in overall implementation and oversight of all Drake Relays meet operations in addition to all related events. - (Essential)
5% - Supervise Drake Relays interns working on Drake Road Races, Grand Blue Mile, Vault at Capital Square or other out-of-stadium events. - (Essential)
5% - Assist in the promotion, marketing and fundraising for the Drake Relays. - (Essential)
