Utah Valley University seeks a dedicated and experienced Food and Beverage Assistant Director for the UCCU Center. In this vital role, under the general supervision of the UCCU Center Director, you will oversee the professional management of the UCCU Center Food and Beverage Department. Your key responsibilities include planning and executing food and beverage sales and catering for event and athletic venues, managing catering consultations, handling office functions, and coordinating event logistics.
As the Food and Beverage Assistant Director, you will lead part-time employees, ensure that all necessary equipment is available and properly managed for events, and maintain the highest standards of customer service. Summary of Responsibilities
Responsible for inventory management of food, paper products, beverages, equipment, linens, and uniforms. Responsible for all added services scheduled according to client specifications. Responsible to hire and train all part time supervisors, staff, temporary staff, and volunteer groups. Updates and prepares Food and Beverage operating manuals to ensure catering protocols are implemented according to food safe policies. Responsible for setting standards and directing staff through set-up and clean-up of events. Supervises staff and provides assistance as needed. Ensures that staff takes care of all Food and Beverage equipment cleaning protocols, that the event left-overs and trash are disposed of according to UVU and UCCU Center policies. Responsible for scheduling rental equipment if required for events. Participates in UCCU Center weekly meetings to discuss the upcoming week’s events and give timely communication with any changes.
Responsible for hiring and conducting disciplinary actions if required following UVU hiring procedures, and UVU HR protocols, as well as updates job descriptions for supervisors and staff. Responsible for providing staff all tools and amenities required for success. This includes uniforms, equipment, and service amenities. Responsible for scheduling all Concessions supervisors and staff. Coordinates with the UCCU Center Management team and clients to ensure Food and Beverage services meet customer and client expectations. Supervises the execution of assigned events, develops event staffing plans, and supervises staff during events. Responsible for revising, updating, preparing, and implementing training manuals in compliance with Servesafe principles, UVU policies, and UCCU Center guidelines. Required to prepare methods and policies to ensure the Food and Beverage staff. complies with the department’s behavioral guidelines as well as with uniforms, food policies, and schedules. Supervises, recruits, trains, motivates, and evaluates.
Assists the UCCU Center Director in developing strategies, procedures, and technology solutions to ensure that staff staff have the required assets and systems to provide excellent customer service to clients, partners, and patrons. Assists and coordinates with the UCCU Center Director to minimize mistakes in the billing process. Ensures accuracy and timing complies with UVU accounting cycles, policies and UCCU Center guidelines. Responsible for assisting the Director in the implementation of External Vendor requests. Assists the Director with interoffice relations and partnership with other UVU departments. Fosters collaboration, resolves conflicts, and effectively communicates in writing and verbally.
Works closely with the UCCU Center Director and Management team regarding all events, including back of house challenges and food quality issues. Coordinates communication between the front of house and back of house staff and assisting in the back of house when needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with an Associate degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management or a related field and four years of experience related to key roles and responsibilities; OR any combination of education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling six years. Preferred Qualifications

Must be able to work quickly and efficiently on several projects, be detail-oriented, have strong time management skills and comfortable working confidently in a constantly changing environment. The position necessitates continual interaction with guests, employees, and kitchen staff and requires a positive, can-do attitude.
Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or related disciplines, or 5 years’ experience as Catering Manager.
