The Rutgers Division of Intercollegiate Athletics sponsors 24 intercollegiate sports, comprised of 14 women’s and 10 men’s programs, that compete at the Division I level. The Scarlet Knights are members of the prestigious Big Ten Conference, the nation’s premier academic and athletic conference, after officially joining the league on July 1, 2014. Known as “The Birthplace of College Football, Rutgers hosted Princeton on Nov. 6, 1869 in the first intercollegiate football game, with RU earning a 6-4 victory.
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Director – Football for the Academic Support Services department.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
Provides management of, and leadership for, football for
ASSA
.
Provides a comprehensive array of services for student athletes that will support their academic success at Rutgers University-New Brunswick and that are in accordance with
NCAA
regulations.
Ensures that assigned student athletes are provided with high quality academic advising services that support their progress toward timely completion of a bachelor’s degree and appropriate academic progress as described by athletic eligibility rules and regulations of the
NCAA
and the Big Ten Conference.
Ensures that student athletes’ academic achievement is reviewed on a continuous basis and their learning skills are assessed regularly so that they are provided with appropriate educational interventions, as needed.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Five (5) years of relevant experience in academic advising, preferably with student athletes.

- Knowledge of the NCAA academic eligibility process.
- Familiarity with data base systems.
- Ability to learn new office systems, as needed.
- Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle the pressure and expectations associated with academic eligibility and the consequences of students not meeting the academic standard.
